What is Tooth Bonding?
Tooth bonding is a dental procedure designed to repair damage and enhance the appearance of teeth. It is performed with a tooth-colored resin composite which bonds to the affected tooth – hence the name tooth bonding. Treatment can usually be completed in one office visit.
Who’s a Good Candidate for Bonding?
In addition, patients are often curious if they are a good candidate for treatment.
Bonding can offer an effective, easy, and quick solution for women and men who have cracked, chipped, or discolored teeth. Individuals who have gaps in their teeth or wish to lengthen or reshape teeth may also wish to consider bonding.
How is Tooth Bonding Performed?
Bonding is performed in the comfort of our office and usually doesn’t require anesthesia – unless it’s indicated for treatment of a cavity or decay.
Prior to the procedure, Dr. Hackley will select a shade of resin that matches your natural tooth color. Then, she will abrade the tooth surface and apply a conditioning liquid.
Finally, the putty-like resin is molded to the tooth and smoothed to blend with surrounding teeth.
At the very end, the bonding material is hardened with a UV light or laser.
